As Hancock House nears its 44th birthday, owner and publisher David Hancock is splitting the company into its two separate divisions and offering both for sale:
A: Trade Book–Rack Division
B: Conservation Biology-Bird Titles
Details on the two divisions are below.
Trade Publishing Division: A major Hancock House asset; beyond a strong backlist and an ongoing publishing program is ownership of its trade book racking operation, which gives the company instant controlled distribution of its titles in both western Canada and the US Pacific coast regions. With its own independent distribution system Hancock House is one of the few publishing houses that does not cater to book chains (although a new owner could). All titles, rights and the independent rack distribution system are available. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to become involved in this dynamic industry with an established publishing program that focuses on books about the Northwest coast, First Nations art and culture, biography/memoir, natural history, cryptozoology. A new owner can expand the publishing focus and markets as they choose.
Conservation Biology Titles: All the printed inventory and rights are being offered with the hopes someone with a strong sense of internet sales and communications will take over this incredible depth of reference material for both hard copy and digital distribution, and through various social media platforms to promote discussion and interactive forums on breeding and conservation.
